The Ridgeway
Clinic

Most of us face challenges from time to time, that are difficult to understand & come to terms with.

Counselling or psychotherapy can help to unfold challenges in your life, by enabling you to focus on major issues, showing you different perspectives & awakening your ability to find resolutions to what may appear to be insurmountable hurdles.

The counsellor gives you his or her undivided attention in a confidential environment, supporting you as you work through your challenges. This is very liberating & can help you make changes, moving you towards a happier, more fulfilling life.

Individual Creative Psychotherapy

My therapeutic orientation is an integration of mindfulness, and creative and holistic

approaches.

I offer a safe and supportive space within an open and contained therapeutic atmosphere.

Often an outcome of the therapy is that  the client can begin to become who they want and

need to be now they can be.

If it suits the client's way of working I can do wholly talking psychotherapy based on mindfulness and humanistic approaches.

I work with a wide range of psychological, emotional and relationship problems, difficulties and distress such as Low self-esteem, anxiety, stress, work related issues, bullying, harassment, emotional abuse, trauma, bereavement, anger management, physical and or sexual abuse and matters of spirituality and spiritual emergency, trauma, PTSD and issues of personal growth and development.

Clients' can be assured of full confidentiality within a safe, non-judgemental, accepting and unconditionally regarding therapeutic space.

My approach is mindful, creative, holistic (mind, body soul and spirit) and experiential (the experience of the person).

As mentioned above in my individual practice I often use talking therapy to gain an understanding of how the client is experiencing their problems and issues. At other times clients' use mainly more non-verbal creative interventions. Usually I find the client does not really know what lies behind their problems and what they need to change to move on in their lives.

I work mindfully (consciously in the here-and-now) to get a better understanding of the client's experience and if the client chooses they can use  creative interventions including imagination, sand play (where clients' select and place in a half filled tray of safe sand miniature figures of life and objects both worldly and symbolic to represent their inner and outer experience and relationships), art image work (where clients can express their feelings and imagination through drawing with crayons), and artists' created picture cards where clients' may use a series of cards of faces, scenes, dramas, situations, traumas, myths, dreams and symbols to non-verbally express problems, distress and trauma. Clients' are often then able begin to talk about, if they wish, what has been distressing them and causing them difficulties.

Often an outcome of the therapy is that the clients can begin to become who they want and need to be .

Arts Psychotherapy and Dramatherapy

Clients do not need any previous arts experience of any description as the arts are used in the therapeutic context as medium and metaphor to enable psychological change regardless of ability.

In my individual practice I am often using talking therapy to gain an understanding of how the client is experiencing their problems and issues. Often the client does not really know what lies behind the problems.

The therapy can be short, medium or long term.
